VB Spine breaks ground in ANZ, Takes over Stryker’s spinal implants business

VB Spine has officially taken the reins of Stryker’s spinal implants business in Australia and New Zealand.
The transition builds on a major milestone earlier this year, when Viscogliosi Brothers acquired Stryker’s U.S. spinal implants division and launched VB Spine on April 1, 2025. Now, with the completion of the ANZ sale, VB Spine becomes the largest privately held spine company with a direct presence in two of the fastest-growing markets.
“From the start, our vision has been simple: put patients first and innovate boldly,” said Marc Viscogliosi, co-CEO of VB Spine, speaking for his brothers and fellow co-CEOs Anthony and John Viscogliosi.
“Today we take that vision global. By combining the passion of our family-run culture with LifeHealthcare’s best-in-class surgeon support, we’re opening a new chapter in spine care defined by access, outcomes, and possibility.”
The company maintains exclusive access to critical technologies, including Stryker’s Mako Spine robotic platform and the Copilot automatic depth stop feature.
Competing against industry giants like Medtronic, Globus Medical, and DePuy Synthes – which have strong market positions supported by robotics, AI, and advanced materials – VB Spine faces the challenge of differentiating itself through innovation and pricing.
LifeHealthcare, an EBOS MedTech company, will remain the exclusive distributor of the spinal implants portfolio in Australia and New Zealand – a role it has held since 2010 – ensuring uninterrupted access and clinical support for local surgeons and their patients.
Paul Petherbridge, CEO of LifeHealthcare, said “We are pleased to announce our long-term collaboration with VB Spine. LifeHealthcare has represented this portfolio since 2010, providing clinicians and patients in Australia and New Zealand with reliable access to spinal instrumentation and implants through our experienced team.
“Our partnership with VB Spine aligns with our mission for Spine in ANZ: ‘What matters to you drives us.’ We look forward to working with the Viscogliosi brothers and the VB Spine team to offer innovative solutions and valuable education to our clinicians.”
